Data Science Intern
Location: Remote
Role Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and talented Data Scientist Intern for Summer 2026 to help build analytics and AI capabilities across our healthcare data platforms. In this role, you’ll work with real-world datasets to develop insights and automation that power product features—ranging from dashboards and reporting to AI-assisted search and question-answering over complex documents and policies. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering and product, move quickly, and ship work that directly impacts what customers see.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and iterate on analytics and reporting that help users explore healthcare policies, documents, and coverage insights.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, normalizing, and structuring data at scale.
- Write and optimize SQL for analysis and production workflows (experience with Snowflake is a strong plus).
- Create and improve Power BI dashboards, datasets, and data models to support internal and customer-facing insights.
- Prototype and evaluate AI-driven features (e.g., retrieval/search, agent workflows, and LLM-based summarization/Q&A) with an emphasis on accuracy and measurable performance.
- Support scalable processing using AWS services (e.g., Lambda-based jobs, storage, logging/monitoring) and collaborate with engineering on production deployment patterns.
- Define success metrics, validate results, and communicate progress and findings clearly to technical and non-technical teammates.
- Break down ambiguous problems into executable tasks, iterate quickly, and document what you build.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in AWS cloud computing services.
- Strong programming skills in Python. - Experience with Pinecone or similar vector databases.
- Knowledge of generative AI models and techniques.
- Solid research background and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong integrity and commitment to ethical work practices.
- Ability to deconstruct complex problems and execute tasks in a timely manner.
